Turkish Sajdak with Leather Appliqué
This sajdak is made following the pattern of a preserved Turkish or Tatar sajdak from the early 17th century found in Dresden's "Türkische Kammer" collection (inventory number Y175). The original sajdak was decorated with delicate leather appliqué on the skin with colored leather inserts. We've almost entirely replicated this appliqué, replacing only the leather inserts with paint. The quiver's shape is accurately reproduced, and the shape of the bow case is slightly narrowed in relation to the original for better use with modern traditional bows.

The base of the quiver and bow case is made of 2mm thick vegetable-tanned leather, with a thin goat leather layer on the front side with appliqué. The quiver and bow case are fixed to the belt using special mounts, featuring a functional loop on the back. The small straps are secured and adjustable through the slit system on the belt. The entire suspension system is copied from original items currently stored in museums and has been successfully tested in practice. We use historically accurate hook fasteners on the belt. Thanks to them, the quiver can be put on and taken off quickly and conveniently.
Sajdak Specifications:
Material and Decor: Base – 2mm vegetable-tanned leather; decorative layer with appliqué – thin goat leather; coloring.
Quiver Size: Length 40 cm, Width 24 cm.
Bow Case Size: Length 70 cm, Width 31 cm.
For suspension, three functional mounts cast in the form of a stylized flower are used. Belt length: 131 cm, and a frame hook fastener serves as a buckle.
Optimal Capacity: 12 arrows (example in the photo demonstrates arrows with a length of 85 cm). Optionally, holes for arrows can be made in the quiver (see photo below).
As an example of a bow, for demonstration purposes, the "Khan" bow from KadysBows (length in a drawn state 130 cm, base 17 cm) was taken.
